Fiber laser markers

Technology

Fiber lasers use an optical fiber made of silica glass, rare earths such as erbium, ytterbium, neodymium, dysprosium, praseodymium, thulium and holmium are then added.

Fiber laser markers have one great advantage: they are extremely stable lasers. In fact, when a fiber laser generates its beam inside the core, beam delivery does not require complex or sensitive optical equipment.

So, fiber lasers can handle shock and vibration making it particularly suitable for any assembly line.

Advantages

  • Fiber laser markers have a small, straight beam, allowing better focus.
  • Fiber lasers are energy efficient. A fiber laser can convert nearly 100 percent of the input it receives into the beam, thus limiting the amount of energy that is converted to heat energy. The fiber laser marker tends to remain safe from heat damage or breakage.
  • They are industrial lasers, therefore, require zero maintenance.

Q-SWITCHED FIBER LASER

Arca manufactures and sells several Q-switched ytterbium fiber lasers for any type of marking and industry. Our laser models have power levels from 10 to 100w.

The fiber laser Produces a “pulsed” beam of light. This technique allows extremely high peak power, which is ideal for marking on even the strongest materials. It is suitable for marking on most surfaces, including metals, polymers and ceramic materials.

It enables better print definition and a higher life expectancy (100,000 hours).

MOPA LASER FIBER (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier)

The MOPA laser (an acronym for Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) is one of the most flexible lasers on the market and can be used for many applications: in terms of pulse duration it can mimic the properties of conventional fiber lasers (relatively long pulses) and those of classic solid-state lasers (short pulses) such as Nd:YAG or Nd:YVO4.

For short pulses and lower pulse energy, e.g., the material is heated less and the area of the heat-affected zone is reduced. This results in greater benefits and possibilities for laser marking of metals and plastics:

  • Less burning/fusing in the edge area of metal etchings
  • Less heat development during annealing of markings on metal, leading to better corrosion behavior
  • Creation of reproducible annealing colors on stainless steel
  • Black marking of anodized aluminum
  • Controlled melting of plastic
  • Less foam with plastic
  • More homogeneous and sometimes higher contrast markings on some plastics.

The advantages of conventional fiber laser sources remain unchanged:

  • Maintenance-free
  • Long lifetime
  • Air-cooled

3-axis laser marking

All Arca laser markers, of any technology, can employ a 3-axis marking control module. At this makes it possible to mark on different planes, surfaces inclined and curved.

3-axis control makes it possible to avoid onerous part handling systems or the replacement of the jigs supporting the workpiece itself.

Solidity and safety

Arca laser markers are distinguished by industrial strength and safety.

Made of stainless steel and available in IP65 versions, they are extremely robust and employ high-end components.

No improvisation: the best laser sources and focal lenses available on the world market, to offer performance and life expectancy at the top of international technology.

Features of Laser Fiber Markers

Modules certified at European level

Machine enabling controlled by key switch.

Emergency button circuit complete with interruption and protections control circuit with interlock system. Both circuits are equipped with their own safety module (Pilz-Pnoz) with dual redundant channels and mandatory reset.

The modules are certified up to performance level “PL-e” according to EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL CL 3 according to EN/IEC62061.

A single multifunction industrial connector (I/O), allows the optimal management of all machine states and condition of the alarm.

Control unit

The control unit with main switch and status LED in an ergonomic position, can be fixed on a column or placed in a horizontal (desktop) or vertical (tower), thanks to the arrangement of the supports, for the smoothest integration with the production line.

Support structure

Bench support structure for laser marker, with position adjustment above the product to be marked, for optimum focus.

Class 4 “entry level” solution Complete with vertical adjustment with ball screw and horizontal adjustment (both with millimeter references). The support surface is pre-drilled for easy positioning of any templates.

Accident prevention

Laser Box safety protection for laser marker. “Entry level” solution in class 1.
